Founded in the early 1900s by our owner’s great-grandfather, what started as a sanding and finishing business has grown to become a premier source for reclaimed wood locally and across the US. Three generations later, Southern Vintage is now in the capable hands of John and Jessica Allgeier, who run the business together with their children out of their family farm in Louisville, Kentucky. Employing expert woodworking techniques that have been passed down for generations, our hand-crafted custom reclaimed wood flooring is made with a legacy of tradition.
John can trace the origins of his passion for woodworking back to his childhood when he would sit in his grandfather’s basement and watch as the elder Allgeier tooled about, crafting one-of-a-kind furniture for family members. After college, John turned his love for woodworking towards reclaimed wood, perfecting the sanding and finishing process to create some of the most sought-after flooring textures today. He and Jessica even coined the term “saw-struck,” where each plank is individually run through a saw to add unique markings and create a perfectly imperfect rustic texture and vintage feel.
Today, Southern Vintage’s product line includes reclaimed wood flooring, beams, paneling, cabinets, and live edge tables and countertops, as well as traditional milled flooring, stone veneer, and more. Each of our products delivers the same level of refinement and polish you’d expect from Southern Vintage.
Southern Vintage is not just a company; it’s passion, love, and legacy that has been passed down for generations — and will continue to be passed down to future Allgeiers for generations to come. Tradition, family, and collaboration are all key aspects of our company values and mission.
As a family-owned company, we control every step of the process, from sourcing and milling to grading, textures, and finishes. You always receive unparalleled control over the customization process with Southern Vintage. When you buy reclaimed wood pieces from us, you’ll find an unexpected combination of styles, textures, and elements that come together to create something timeless and beautiful — pieces that will enhance your home for generations to come.
